On behalf of the TAS team, I would like to start out by saying that I hope you and your families are staying safe. The COVID-19 pandemic has affected all of us personally and professionally. To help our clients understand the spread of the COVID 19 virus, the TAS team came together and built the following map.
Today, we rolled out to all TAS Online and Mobile users a COVID-19 data source containing two queries:
- COVID-19 by Confirmed Cases
- COVID-19 by Rate of Change
The first layer, COVID-19 by Confirmed Cases, shows the total cases for each US county. The second layer, COVID-19 by Rate of Change, shows the total confirmed cases for each US county with the % change in confirmed cases over the last 7 days.
Open either layer and click on any county to gain insights on the case count details and rate of change in cases over the last 7 days.
The COVID-19 data will be updated every night from the data source from the Center for Systems Science and Engineering at Johns Hopkins University. Please log into TAS Online or TAS Mobile to find in your Sources menu a COVID-19 folder containing the two queries.
This data is also available for further configurations in TAS Management Studio. Administrative users will find in their organization’s Registered Tables vw_C19_import_webver, a view of the US County cases data, and vw_C19_trend_by_fips, a view of the US County cases change from the last 7 days. If your location data already has county FIPS codes, then you can join the location data registered table to either COVID-19 registered table and view the county case information anywhere you are viewing your location data in TAS.
For example, if you would like to create a report to pull a list of stores or properties and join it to the location’s county COVID-19 data, you can. For those that have not created a Point Report in TAS Management Studio, please follow these steps to create a new report. The key in this report is joining the COVID-19 county data on the FIPS id of the county to the FIPS id that is in your store, property, or site data. Here is an example of a join:
Once you have added the COVID-19 fields to the report, save the report. If it a report already in use, users in roles that have access to the report will see the fields in all newly generated reports. If it is a new report, please make sure to add the report to all desired roles by going to Roles & Security> Manage Roles> [Role in List] > Point Reports and add the new report to the role.
For assistance with creating this or other Data Source components with the COVID-19 data, please reach out to your TAS Client Solutions Specialist or email email@example.com. Thank you.
