After two successful TAS user conferences in 2015 and 2016, one of the most consistent pieces of feedback from attendees was for future events to allow more discussion, collaboration, and brainstorming among attendees. This feedback theme remained consistent when talking to TAS customers as we began planning this year’s event. Based on that feedback, we’re changing the format for this year.
We’re proud to announce TAS UNIFY….Unconference.
What’s an Unconference?
Unlike a traditional conference where the agenda and the speakers are pre-determined, an unconference is driven by the attendees, with an agenda created the day of the event.
What’s the purpose?
To create a highly participatory environment around topics that directly impact you and your professional roles in retail real estate. When participants of an unconference share their knowledge with each other in an unstructured and collaborative setting, they’re able to gain new perspectives for solving business problems and creating new opportunities.
I’m still a bit unclear. Do you have some visual aids to help me understand?
Absolutely. Here’s a brief video we found that explains the process really well:
What will we discuss?
Like we said, the agenda is determined by you on the day of the event. However, you’ll have the opportunity during registration to suggest a topic you might be thinking about. Need some inspiration? Here are a few examples of topics that current TAS customers have mentioned to us as possible discussion topics.
- What’s your largest technology-related struggle?
- Who is stealing my budget and how do I fight back?
- How sensor, mobile, credit card data factors into real estate decisions?
What if I can’t think of anything to talk about right now?
That’s totally ok. The beauty of unconferences is that people usually get inspired pretty quickly when other attendees begin sharing knowledge that’s relatable. It’s only a matter of time before you’ll want to share your opinion or perspective about something.
I didn’t attend previous TAS UNIFY events due to budget restrictions. How much does it cost this year?
It’s free to attend the unconference, although space is limited. You only need to pay for travel to Providence and accommodations. We also have a limited number of discounted hotel rooms at the Providence Biltmore. Once you register for the event, your confirmation message will include the Biltmore Hotel discount link.
