Join us for a fireside chat as we talk with team members from 7-Eleven about their evolution with TAS. With over 7,500 locations in the US and 66,000 worldwide, having access to information to make quick, actionable businesses decisions is critical to their success. We’ll discuss how they leverage TAS tools, real estate strategies in the c-store space, and their vision for the future. We’ll also save time for Q&A.

1:00 pm – 2:00 pm How NOT to Build a Sales Forecasting Model, Speaker: Hartwell Hooper (TAS)

Increasing interest in business analytics has led to a swarm of confusing buzzwords.  The pressure to provide model-driven sales forecasts means researchers are being tempted by new techniques that sound good but may not be appropriate.

In this presentation, Hartwell will talk about some of the latest trends in forecast model development, explain the terminology, and guide a discussion of how retailers should go about this process. Using a weather forecasting example, we’ll look at some of the technical elements of model building, along with the traps and pitfalls.
